Curriculum Emanuele Piras - Conductor
Emanuele Piras was born in April 1998 in Cagliari and from an early age he began to show sensitivity towards the performing arts. He started at school age the study of traditional Sardinian dances and music, first as a self-taught and then joining the parish choir in which his mother sang. During the years of high school he became aware of his artistic tastes, studying acting andcontemporary dance in the school’s theater laboratory with important names on the regional scene such as Momi Falchi, Francesca Massa, Corrado Licheri, Daniel Dwerryhouse, Michela Atzeni, Ornella d’Agostino , Donatella Cabras and Giulia Muroni. He begins to appreciate the poetic composition and begins to poems, a passion that he will consider unchanged over time. Alongside these experiences, he studies the French horn under the guidance of Masters Mauro Piras and Luca Mangini, at the band of his hometown, Serramanna, and some site-specific performance experiences with Leonardo Delogu and Valerio Sirna working as a student actor for Sardegna Teatro – Theater of Relevant Cultural Interest. After a few years spent in the choir of the Serramanna-Pabillonis civic school, directed by Matteo Martis, he joined the Cagliari youth choir “I Polyphonica”, directed by Franca Devinu, under whose guidance he quickly matured in the study of vocality and a vast extended repertoire between the Renaissance and the contemporary period. During the last year of high school he enthusiastically accepts the proposal to re-establish and direct the parish youth choir.

Immediately afterwards, at the urging of some choristers known at the civic school, the Serramannese Amateur Choir “Kairós” was born; shortly after, thanks to the wide participation of young people, “Kororā”, his youth formation, was born. The wide membership of young people means that, shortly before the choir is constituted in APS in October 2020, its youth choir, the “Kororā”, is also born.
He attends two workshops working on his body and on the relationship with music under the guidance of Sara Marasso, Stefano Risso and Michele Abbondanza. In 2018 he joined the Coro Giovanile Sardo Fe.R.S.A.Co where he met the conductor Laura Lambroni and further matured as a chorister and choir director; for this choir writes, as a sign of friendship, the song “Amicus Meus”. After a year spent in the Faculty of Cultural Heritage and Show in Cagliari, he decided to change his path and devote himself completely to choral music by enrolling at the State Conservatory of Music “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina” in Cagliari and starting to study Choir conducting and choral composition with Maria Carmela De Cicco. He attended a choir conducting workshop with Lorenzo Donati, collaborating with the “Musica Viva” choir association directed by Maria Paola Nonne, and a few months later he collaborated with the Studium Canticum choir directed by Stefania Pineider. He also begins his studies at the Colimus, Course for musical operators in the liturgy, organized by the Diocese of Cagliari in collaboration with the Conservatory, and also joins the “Antonio Sanna” Regional Choir Fe.R.S.A.Co.

In 2020 he takes part in Eric Whitacre’s sixth Virtual Choir project, where he meets other choristers from all over Italy and, together with the Calabrian Arturo Aversente, he founds the virtual choir “Note Tricolori”; for them he wrote the song “Noche – Improvisaciòn Nocturna” (on text by Aversente). He follows the online Gregorian chant course organized by the Fe.R.S.A.Co held by Fulvio Rampi, under the guidance of the new directors of the Coro Giovanile Sardo: Enrico Correggia and Claudia Dolce. In August 2021 he was selected among various candidates to take part as a performer in the “Fuorimargine” project in support of youth creativity organized by the Spaziodanza association with Sardegna Teatro – TRIC as part of the Autunno Danza International Festival.
